Pelé a soccer legend distinguished himself among others during his active days in football, to an extent people started calling him "king of soccer ". Early years
Pelé was born in Três Corações , Minas Gerais, Brazil, the eldest son of Fluminense footballer Dondinho and Celeste Arantes. He was named after the American scientist Thomas Edison.The name Pele came during his school days prior to his inability to pronounce the name of his favorite player, local Vasco da Gama goalkeeper Bilé, which he mispronounce but the more he complained the more it stuck. According to Pelé's statement, he had no idea what the name means, nor did his old friends.

Pelé started his footballing career at Bauru FC where he was trained by Waldemar de Brito. In short time all Brazilian great clubs were after him. He choose Santos FC where he made his debut at age 15. At 17 years of age, Pelé made his debut at the World Cup with Brazil in 1958. After scoring the decisive goal against Wales in the quarterfinals Pelé became the youngest player to score in world cup. He also scored a hat-trick against France in the semifinals which Brazil won 5-2. Brazil went ahead to win the final match against Sweden Pelé on the scorer list in the 5-2 riot against sweden. Brazil were crowned world champion and Pelé was the best young talent of the competition.
Pelé played his last World Cup in 1970 at age 29.
Pelé ended his spectacular career in the US at the New York Cosmos as an "ambassador for football". He remain the master of the game in all ramification shooting accuracy, dribbling and scorer of aver a thousand goals.
